Bio
Brass In Pocket - America’s Pretenders Tribute Band is based in Austin, TX. It’s a tribute to Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders, one of the greatest bands in rock history.
Formed in 2017, Brass In Pocket has dedicated itself to faithfully recreating the energy, sound, and look of Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders. The band has performed at numerous venues across Texas, including The Haute Spot (Cedar Park TX), Sam's Burger Joint Music Hall (San Antonio), The Highball (Austin), Sundown at Grenada (The Grenada Theater, Dallas TX), and The Uptown Theatre (Marble Falls).
After a two-year hiatus, the band regrouped in late 2023 with a new lineup: singer-guitarist Shelli Miller as Chrissie Hynde; returning guitarist Heath Allyn (Yacht Z, The Eggmen), bandleader David Houston (The Eggmen, Yacht Z, Mock Lobster) on drums, and Chris Nine (Schatzi, Yacht Z, Tender Wolf) on bass.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
• Guitarist Heath Allyn is an award-winning stage and screen actor, and is the creator of this viral video song parody from 2023 --- 2.1M views!
• Heath was named Best Multi-Instrumentalist in the inaugural Austin Tribute Band Community Awards in 2024.
• Drummer David Houston founded the band in 2017, and was originally the bassist. Heath took an extended touring gig with a cruise line in 2018, and David then took over the lead guitar duties. When the band re-formed in 2023 after a two-year hiatus, Heath had returned on guitar, the drum chair was empty, and a new bassist (Chris) was already in place — so David, already an experienced drummer by then, decided to move to the drum kit. (Literally the only role David hasn't filled in this band is the “Chrissie Hynde” slot. Thankfully, there are no plans for this to occur at any point in the future.)
